Abstract:The electromagnetic processes in the input circuits of an uncontrolled rectifier with a capacitive smoothing filter as a part of the frequency converter are investigated. Generalized analytical expressions and graphical dependencies are obtained for determining the non-sinusoidality indexes of the input voltages, currents, and power factor of the frequency converter depending on the relative value of the load active power. The energy characteristics of frequency converters for circuits with a capacitive and inductive-capacitive smoothing filter are compared. For the most common frequency converters with economical capacitive smoothing filters, analytical conditions have been obtained for the practical provision of their electromagnetic compatibility with the supply network.
